Classes
Your first class is free!
Our classes cost £50 per month, which allows you to take part in any of our regular evening sessions (currently Monday and Wednesday). If you are a guest member of the club (for instance, an occasional visitor from another HEMA club) we have the alternative rate of £10 per session
We encourage our members to pay via our Paypal subscription by using the below button.
We also have an annual membership fee of £30, which includes your Academy of Historical Arts membership. You can attend for 4-5 sessions before signing up as a full member, to ensure you want to commit to joining the club. In order to sign up for this, please complete the Google form below which has further information about this process.
URG HEMA Practice
Monday 6.30-7.30pm
An hour prior to our normal Monday session, our training space is open for exclusive use by any Under-Represented Gender fencers (that is, any members who are Female, Trans, or Non-Binary).
There will be an Instructor or Club Leader on site for insurance and Health and Safety purposes, who may be of any gender.
HEMA lesson
Monday 7.30-10pm
Structured tuition in German Longsword (based on the codex 44.A.8 “Pseudo-Peter Von Danzig”) by our instructors. Beginners welcome.
The first Monday of each month we learn Sabre instead, from Charles Roworth’s “The Art of Defence on Foot”
Free Practice & Sparring
Wednesday 7.30-10pm
A more loosely organised session, where our training space is open for use. Supervised by instructors
